Introduction

Zala Hair is a famous Australian hair extension brand that sells a variety of hair extensions. All of their hair extensions are available in various sizes such as 12”, 14”, 16”, 20”, 24”, 26” and 30”. Their hair extensions are also available in a wide range of colors for their customers to choose from. The wide collection of colors, lengths, and textures allows their customers to select the perfect extensions according to their real hair and requirements. Zala Hair also offers various hair extensions such as the quad welted, double drawn, balayage, ombre, human hair ponytails, and keratin ponytails. The website also provides services such as the color match service, the color chart, and hair extension level charts to choose the right length and color for themselves.

There is a ton of reviews and before/after pictures posted on the website for you to get an idea of what the product is like once you put it on. You can also take a look at the styling tips posted by renowned influencers and try them out to choose the best one for yourself for the specific occasion. Zala Hair provides their customer accessories such as hair extension accessories, the Cosmo curling wand, and lashes so you can style your hair extensions the right way. Not only that, but the website also offers the very demanded and loved payment method, the Afterpay method, where the customers can pay in installments after receiving the products. So far, I must say that Zala Hair is the most complete website I used when purchasing hair extensions. They literally have all the information you’d need before making a purchase.

They do have lot of reviews online. There was some concerning reviews that I read on Make Up Alley, but there were also positive reviews. Screenshots below!

Purchasing Experience

Today on my website, we will be talking about the very famous Zala Hair. This is going to be an honest review of my experience with this hair extension brand. I will be stating the events that I went through, my overall experience, and my final opinion on ZalaHair.ca. For starters, I must say, I wasn’t too satisfied. I am not too excited to share this unsatisfactory experience with Zala Hair. At first, I didn’t even think I would want to give this experience a spot on my review website. Still, after a lot of thinking and consideration, I convinced myself that I had to post this dreaded review.

So let’s start with the beginning where one of my friends requested me to review Zala Hair. My friend had been obsessing over this famous YouTuber who was very much in love with Zala Hair, and that is why she was adamant that I review this hair brand as well. For those who don’t know what Zala Hair is, Zala Hair one of the famous Australian companies that offer a wide range of hair extensions. You can find various types of hair extensions available in different colors, textures, and lengths. All in all, they have a never-ending list of hair extensions that you can look through and choose.

I finally gave up and decided to visit the website. When I first clicked on the website, the homepage directly showed me a popup ad. When I saw the popup on the homepage, it made me think that the website would simply change the currency of the website’s prices to the place where I am currently living. However, the website redirected me to another domain, which was ZalaHair.ca. This was perfect because the website sent me to the appropriate website for the region I lived in and the corresponding currency.

Anyway, I was quite happy with this because I thought the brand must have a warehouse in Canada for all the hair extensions, which would probably result in me not paying extra money for the shipping. When you usually buy online products from out of your region, it either takes too long to deliver, adds additional payment as the duty fee, gets too expensive, or sometimes all of the above. But in my case, I didn’t have to deal with any of this. The thought of a hassle-free shopping experience had me excited to carry on with the rest. But, there is more to it, which we will be talking about later in the review.

As it was my first experience with this new hair extension brand, I decided to choose the least expensive item on the list. Doing reviews about different products can get pretty heavy on the wallet as I buy the products with my money. I don’t do sponsored reviews; that is why I have to get the products for the review independently. This is why choosing a cheaper item was the most sensible option. After a lot of thinking and confused scrolling, I finally decided to choose the Dark Choc Brown #2 Clip-In Hair Extensions 12/14 inch 90/180g 100% Human Remy Hair. I am sure you can tell by the complicated name. I just mentioned how confusing and tiring it was to scroll through the options and choose the right one for myself. This set of 5 clips in the piece was available for 99.99 CAD, which is, I must say, a little expensive for just five pieces of hair extensions.

Like I mentioned before, when you visit the website, get ready to be overwhelmed by the different sizes and clips available in the collection. The overly detailed names will have you confused for a good minute. For instance, if you select the five-piece set 12/24″ on the product page, you will see the other format of the nine pieces 14″ set. I was lost in the middle of this confusing combination, and I didn’t know what I was finally purchasing. Then I had to reset the process to start from scratch. I later selected the item one by one to my cart to get the right order. The website was just trying to sell other related products simultaneously, even when you have already selected a specific hair extension item.

That being said, the only thing I liked about the website and the online shopping experience was that they had pictures of different hair extensions adorning the head of several other women. This helped me understand how it would look and work practically.

Shipping & Delivery

Now moving on to the shipping and delivery, my order was delivered in a total of 13 days after I had placed my order. The total bill for the delivery package was $14.99, as shown in the picture shown below.

Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (37)

I had already received an email with the tracking details of my order. Along came a text message with the same information. I also received a notice where they said I had to pick up my order from the post office, which I was super excited about. I hurriedly went off to the post office to collect my package to un-box it as soon as I could and post the review on my website. Now, this is where everything goes wrong. It turns out, the notice I received earlier was for the fact that I had to pay the duty fees. I was shocked and confused about why I would have to pay the duty fee from within Canada? I even asked the lady if there was confusion and that this package was delivered from within Canada. The lady at the Canada Post was confused and assumed that maybe it was just some extra shipping fee. But what she didn’t know was that I had already paid the $14.99 for the shipping. Even the shipping label had mentioned that this package was shipped from Canada. After minutes of confusion and frustration, I reluctantly paid the $15.55 duty fee because I was scared that I would never get a refund back if I refused the package. Do you know what the worst part was? That $10 from the total $15.33 was just a service fee for DHL to pay the duty fee of only $5 on my behalf. Sounds crazy, right?

Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (38) Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (39)

Later on, when I opened the packed, still worried about the extra payments, I found out an invoice that stated that this package was originally shipped from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. I have mentioned it before, but I will repeat it to clear any confusion that I initially ordered the product from ZalaHair.ca, thinking they will ship from within Canada. There is a specific requirement for a business to operate under the domain .CA, and one of them is to operate from Canada. After this horrible experience, I got back home with a frown, feeling duped and seriously angry. I was not upset only because I had to pay the extra $15.33 and because I was tricked when I first placed my order; they should have been elaborate enough with the details, the shipping process, and the extra payments. If I had known that my package was being delivered from outside Canada and not from an original .CA domain, I wouldn’t have complained about the extra fees as it would have been obvious. This was only the starting of my bad experience with ZalaHair.ca. When I later contacted the brand’s customer service and thoroughly explained all the problems I had to go through. All I got in return was the generic response that meant it was my responsibility for any duty fees or extra charges. They also didn’t seem to understand the fact the main problem the wrong usage of the .CA domain, which had led me to such issues.

The customer service even acknowledged that they use the .CA domain to attract Canadian shoppers, even if the brand isn’t registered initially in Canada. I even told the customer service that they can easily allow their customers to change their currencies according to their location without manipulating their domain. For instance, Luxy Hair enables their customers to change the currency without a hassle. The unfair response had frustrated me to the core, so I went ahead and asked them to connect me to the manager. This isn’t usually what I do, but what happened to me was genuinely unfair. Unfortunately, the customer service later told me that the manager won’t be able for now, and they will be getting in touch with me in 24 to 48 hours. I waited just like they asked me to, but I got no response in return.

To be very clear and avoid any misunderstandings, I should tell you that I know Zala Hair is an Australian hair extension brand, but if they are using the .CA domain at the end of their website should mean that they have a warehouse or an outlet available in Canada. For example, brands like Amazon does the same. They use the .CA domain for the Canadian customers can receive their order from one of their fulfillment centers in Canada, hence the absence of duty fees or any other extra charges. The inappropriate use of the .CA domain had created most of the problems I had faced regarding the package’s shipment and payment. Why bother hosting your company name on a .CA (canadian) domain, but then ship from outside of Canada? You’re misleading Canadians into believing you’re a Canadian company. For example, in Canada we have a famous hair extensions store called Canada Hair and they use the .CA domain and their warehouse is in Canada. But Zala Hair doesn’t operate from Canada, yet is using the .CA domain to trick users into believing it has some sort of presence in Canada, only to later charge us hidden shady fees. This is completely unfair I wasn’t aware I was going to pay additional fees to get my Zala Hair order. I thought the order total was the one shown at checkout, and the one I paid for with my credit card. Adding additional fees later on that I must pay or risk not getting my order is completely unfair and unethical business practices. NOT HAPPY.

Hair Quality – Zala Hair Review

Now, time for the much-awaited product review. There is a lot that needs to be talked about so, I will explain everything in two different categories, the packaging and the hair extension itself.

I’ll start with the packaging, which I must say, was kind of big. The hair extensions came in somewhat a big box, which looked similar to the one Luxy Hair provides. It seemed identical to the Red box by Luxy Hair but comparatively much larger. When I opened the box, I could instantly decide that the packaging was a bit wasteful and not practical. The hair extension packaging had another packaging of their own, which was kept inside the larger box along with the other small items. So for the packaging size, it wasn’t something surprising or aesthetic, just a plain, unnecessarily big box that took up too much space.

Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (40) Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (41) Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (42) Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (43) Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (44)

On to the items inside the box; inside the box, I received the hair extension, a small hairbrush for the extensions, tiny samples of the shampoo and conditioner for the extensions, and finally, the 15ml hair mask. The shampoo and conditioner samples were just small 10ml containers. Other than that, there was much other marketing material like the $10 off coupon for when I order from their website again (which is evident by now that I won’t). The brand also added a couple of advertisem*nt cards from their brand to the box. Along with all of this stuff came a small catalog book. The little book by Zala Hair showcased all of their products and their minimal details for the customers to take a look at so they can easily choose again.

All in all, the box was still a little too big for all the contents present inside of it. A smaller, more compact, and aesthetic looking package would have been more attractive for me. It would also have saved a lot of space and would have been more comfortable for the receivers to carry around. Other than the defects mentioned above, I did not find any other concerning problems such as the leakage of the shampoo and conditioner sample, torn packets, damaged box, or the broken hairbrush bristles.

Even when my friend had suggested me this website after her favorite YouTuber had recommended and used it, I had heard about this hair extension brand before. When I first got the package, I expected the hair extensions to be thicker and shinier. I always wanted the shine to stay even after multiple washes and the texture to stay smooth just like the starting. I wanted the borders and the insides to be smooth and plain, without any excess hair sticking out. I wanted it to look and feel real, just like any other high-quality hair extensions. Other than that, I expected that they would send an aesthetic looking packaging and eye-catching items that come with it for promotional purposes. The high but reasonable prices had me thinking the quality would be exceptional. I’m happy to say that this is exactly what I got. Despite the very bad delivery experience, the hair extensions I got from Zala Hair are great. The hair quality is better than what you’d normally get. I think Zala Hair clip-in extensions are as good as Luxy Hair’s clip-in extensions. They are definitely better than Bellami Hair!

When I first opened the hair extensions packed, I could tell how soft and shiny the hair extensions were. To make sure it wasn’t just the appearance, I brushed the extension with my fingers multiple times and checked for any tangles or roughness. But luckily, the hair extensions seemed completely fine. The clips for the proper grip on the hair were wholly functional and intact. The small clips gripped my hair well and stayed in place the entire time. At this point, my frustration and anger started to cool down, given the hair extension turned out good. I noticed a small card on the hair extension inside; it certified that the set that I now own had passed extensive quality inspection by professional workers.

Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (45) Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (46) Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (47) Zala Hair Reviews | Zala Hair Exetensions Review (Updated 2022) (48)

The card’s date mentioned the year 2017/2018, which was quite odd, considering that I had ordered the hair extensions in 2020. I am not sure if that means the product was manufactured in 2017/2018 and had been sitting in storage for so long. I can’t speculate on this, but it makes me think how old this set is. One of the things that bothered me was a couple of threads hanging from the top of the hair extensions. One of them was green, and the rest of the two were plain white. This made me skeptical about the hair extensions overall that they might poke out when I am wearing them, and it would look weird. The package also mentioned that the hair extensions were double drawn, but it doesn’t look like double-drawn extensions at all.

Later on, I did the heat test, and it went considerably well. I straightened my hair correctly with a flat iron, and the results were quite satisfying, but in the end, there was a small plastic-y looking hair stuck to the base of the flat iron.

Again, I was confused that the tag had stated that the hair extension had gone through an extensive testing session and quality control. The hair extension looked well on my hair, but the sticky hair strand combined with the colored strands stand out was a negative point. Later on, I used the shampoo and conditioner samples given by the brand and the hair extensions. I emptied the 10ml containers of the shampoo and conditioner on the hair extension and gently and thoroughly washed them. The hair extensions lost their original shine. I gathered from this experience that the shampoo, conditioner, and water washed off the silicone coating that made the hair appear shiny and glossy. The hair extensions that I had initially received were not the same as those I had after the single wash.

All things considered, the experience with these extensions was overall satisfactory. You can tell by the review that my experience with Zala Hair was disappointing because of the delivery issue, but the hair seems to be fair for the price.

The clips weren’t too big and not too small. They also had a really good grip on my hair. I tried Bellami Hair clip-in extensions a long time ago and didn’t like them. But Zala Hair’s clip-in extensions seem to be fine so far!

Return Policy

The last thing that I would like to address in this review about the Zala Hair extensions is the return policy and its details. The first main point that is relatively satisfying is that once you have ordered the product, you have 30 days to return it to the website. But there is a significant drawback to this. You have to pay an extra fee to return the product. Many brands, companies, and websites allow their customers to return the product without the hassle of paying an extra fee.

So if you do the calculation right, from the hair extensions that I got for $99, I will be losing $14.99, that is the shipping fee, plus the $15.33 that is the duty fee, an extra $15 handling fee, and lastly an extra fee to return the order back to Zala Hair. And let’s say that the shipping cost for the product returned to the US warehouse is the same as before, then excluding that from the total will leave me with approximately $38.

Cost of extensions: $99

Shipping fees: -$14.99

Hidden Duty fees: -$15.33

Returning extensions shipping fee: -$15

Returning extensions handling fee: -$15

So basically, the money that I’d get in exchange would be almost half the amount of what I had paid before. What a horrible deal right? So I guess I won’t be returning my extensions and Zala Hair return policy is pointless unless you don’t mind bleeding $60+ in the process!

I really dislike businesses that require the customers to pay extra charges to return the product to the website. Especially that now with COVID19, we have no choice but to rely on online retailers. Customers should never have to pay to return an item they don’t like. Companies should allow their customers to have a hassle-free shopping experience without the extra fees and added charges. Unlike other famous brands, Zala Hair does not allow their customers to enjoy luxuries without breaking the bank. Later on, I discovered how Zala Hair justifies their extra charges,

”These fees help businesses pass on the costs of repackaging the reduced sale price of a resale to the customer. Orders will be refunded the total order amount minus the shipping incurred by ZALA and a $15AU handling fee, or you can return for 100% store credit minus the shipping paid.”

When a business does this, it doesn’t want to be responsible for regular business expenses such as product returns and exchanges. Most famous websites and brands stake the responsibility of taking back their product if there is a defect or if the customer doesn’t like it. The brands believe that they must fulfill the customer’s need and give them the perfect product according to their needs and requirements. Thankfully, brands like Luxy Hair, USA Hair, Bellami Hair, and Glam Seamless don’t do this. They also do not charge a fee for product return or exchange. So, in short, the return policy and extra charges were pretty disappointing, and they just added up to my utterly dissatisfactory experience with Zala Hair. They kept charging fees repeatedly for the littlest of the things, which made me finalize my decision that I will not be buying hair extensions from Zala Hair again.

Conclusion – Zala Hair Review

In the end, I would like to conclude that I will not be ordering any hair extensions or any other product from Zala Hair again. I was utterly disappointed by their messed up delivery service and disappointing customer service. They did not put any effort into satisfying their customers and even charged the extra fee for return. My overall experience with Zala Hair was very disheartening, and I can indeed say I will not be doing it any time soon. I’m afraid I also have to fiercely disagree with them using local domains such as .CA attracts individual customers from that region. It is simply a bad business practice that every business should avoid if they need customer loyalty and positive feedback. This rule may even go against the Canadian Internet Registration Authority guidelines.

I also won’t be returning the product because I will get just half the amount I spent. The unfair exchange will only result in me losing my money because their service weren’t what they promised it would be. I hope this detailed review helped you understand if this is the right product for you or not.

Hair extensions are an excellent investment and help you create as many hairstyles as possible without spending money over and over again. So choose wisely and spend your money in the right place. Happy Shopping!

FULL OF LICE
I was so excited to find a reasonably priced topper that exactly matched my hair… until my hairdresser pointed out that it was filled with DEAD LICE!! I was completely disgusted and contacted Zala right away with pictures. At first they denied it, and then they came back and said that it was perfectly normal and they were easy to remove. That is so not the point. Anyone here want a head full of bugs?? I will never buy from them again or refer them to anyone!!

I wish I would have read reviews online first. Was disappointed with the pony tail I bought as it wouldn’t stay on my hair. Had to pay for shipping to return it then they wouldn’t give me a full refund so I did an exchange but had to take a loss because I broke the seal. I should have just resold it online. I exchanged for a halo which never arrived. I believe my package was stolen and because they used economy shipping my package wasn’t insured so I am now out a lot of money. They didn’t offer to replace the item or even a discount on a future purchase. I will never again do business with them and wouldn’t never let any one else either!

I also agree. This company tries to get your business but will not stand behind their products. I’ve been wearing various tape ins for 7 years and this was by far the worst customer service experience. The last set I purchased from them,(mind you I’ve spent about $500 with them already) the tape was older and not as sticky. This will sometimes happen. So I reached out to them to see about getting some replacement tape sent out. Not a refund. They wanted original packaging. I had them installed why would I keep the original packaging. Many of the tape ins fell out after the first wash. This is disappointing in a company like this. I will be doing a YouTube review of this hair and experience. This is probably the worst out of all the hair companies out there.

Quality is HORRIBLE! They tangle SO EASILY, like I literally took them out of the box and they were knotted… I used the brush sold by ZALA and it only got worse. Managed to untangle enough to try to style and the ends were frayed and fried even though I was using the lowest setting on the ZALA curler! I contacted customer service and they were rude, condescending and acknowledged that the extensions were knowingly a lower quality than other brands however because I had used a tool on a section, they would not accept a return/refund/exchange even though the safety tag was still in tact.

The hair is not real. It comes in a nice package with all the bells and whistles and the second you wash it it exposes its true self. This is worse than the hair used on mannequin heads in beauty school. My client was crying in the chair because not only could we not brush it, she just wasted a thousand dollars on hair that she wore for maybe 6 weeks. As a stylist I’m frustrated because I don’t want to lose a client by charging her full price again to install a different brand of hair. So zala is now not only costing me money, they are also wasting several hours of my work day that I will not get paid for. I am a part time working mom of 2 toddlers and every hour I am away from my kids I better be making money. Claiming to sell real hair when it in fact is fake is false advertisem*nt. I will be reporting to the better business bureau.

The online chat are willing to leave out information regarding refunds! I enquired with them and was told that postage to send it back was not covered. However, this is NOT the only cost of sending it back. I ordered a product worth £111 inc. shipping and it cost me £60 to send it back. £20 to post it (which is not covered) £10 for restocking and £30 that you lose ordering it in the first place. DO NOT BUY if you aren’t sure you are going to keep it. I got refunded £13 for a £90 product.

I will NEVER order from anyone else. They have me for life and every color I chose to go lol! Just like anything else, if you take excellent care of the extensions, they take care of you! I don’t use heat at all except on one set of extensions only. You will not regret these extensions!!! Customer service has been amazing and right on time!

READ REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING!
I was in a rush when i purchased this and i should have done my homework first. I was intentionally searching for a Canadian site and i was fooled by zalahair.CA – who knew they could even use a .CA domain when they arent even in Canada, they are based in Australia. The shipping was supposed to be 14 days MAX and here we are today over a month later and still no hair. I purchased this for my wedding and i have no ordered from Canada Hair which came in less than a week!
Zala hair is a rip-off. My hair extensions are nowhere to be found and the tracking says in air transit for the last 3 weeks. I am also expecting a hefty duties charge based on a lot of the reviews i have read so far. i wont even bother calling them based again on all the negative reviews i’ve read so far.
I can speak to the quality of the hair as again, i have yet to receive them but given i had wasted money on this product hoping to SAVE money, i have infact spent more. I could have just paid the money to a better retailer after all.

Also FYI the product was horrible quality! I would recommend do not buy!! Don’t fall for the lower price. You get what you pay for and if you try to return be prepared for the company to try and scam you out of your money.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! I am completely surprised by how awful the customer service is. After my purchase of
ONE set of extensions nearly $300.00 what I spent! Yes, almost $300, and I have useless estensions sitting here.

Initially I asked a consultant on their website about the color I was looking for. A platinum blonde, nearly white, is what I was looking for. Well, she gave me her best judgment of platinum blonde nearly white and I received SILVER extensions. Lovely. So now I need to dye my hair silver to use them. They say they have a 100% satisfaction policy and I can return them (oh MINUS the 10% they take out for restocking or whatever they want to call the fee).

But I didnt want a return. I simply wanted an exchange to the next most platinum color….in hope that would be what I was looking for. But…..I cant do that either. They say they pay for the shipping back to them, however that isnt the case. I will need to pay for the shipping upfront and then they will reimburse me the shipping. Unfortunately, after me getting to splurge on myself and buy almost $300 for 1 set of extensions….I am broke. I cannot afford even gasoline right now. So I defintely cannot afford to pay for shipping back to them. I contacted them about this multiple times. My extensions are in the box exactly as they came to me. The hygiene strip still intact nothing damaged….but they will not send me a prepaid label so that I can send these back to them!!!

That is all I have asked for with their 100% satisfied customer policy, I figured it wasn’t going to be a problem exchanging for the correct set. However, it is. And there are only so many days you have to return so basically I threw $300 down the drain.

SAD! In my opinion after spending that much for a set of extensions I would expect their team to be able to accomodate such a request considering they state they pay for the shipping anyway.

I will not bbuy from them again…and I hope you use this review when deciding if you should either.

I paid $600 for products I never received and the company has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. They claim international shipping to Canada is 9 to 12 days when is it is actually not. Standard shipping according to the courier company they use is 20 to 25 business days. And now longer due to Covid restrictions etc. they actually have a warehouse in the US which is where I assumed my extensions would be coming from, being on the same continent. But no, they insist on shipping them from Australia and a month and a half after ordering no one knows where my package is. I will never use this company again and I am still trying to get my money back.

I purchased my first set of Zala hair extensions that were tape-ins in March of 2020 and they were great. They lasted me 6 months and did get more tangly over time but nothing I didn’t expect. Minimal shedding and double drawn just as advertised. In January of this year I purchased a new set of wefts and the shedding is unimaginable. I have hair EVERYWHERE. My boyfriend and daughter have my hair all over them all the time. Every time I brush my hair, I have to clean out my hairbrush from the gobs of hair falling out. The extensions are have become so thin and tangled that if they’re not straightened, they almost have to be pulled back into a ponytail because they are substantially frizzier than my natural hair. They also were not double drawn. Immediately from the package I could see the small hairs. I have naturally thick hair so this is a very important factor for me when purchasing extensions. I have just had to purchase a whole new set of extensions and it’s been less than 2 full months.

I’ll start off by saying I’m a licensed Cosmetologist and have done hair since 2005. I’ve worn extensions, myself, since 2012 and have worked with a LOT of extensions. I’m so disappointed I didn’t read the reviews. The marketing, models, return policy, variety, packaging, everything looked SUPERB–10/10 stars. I even emailed them in advance to make sure the clip-ins were the same quality as the other types. I was told it was all 100% Remy human hair and the same quality. Opening the hair, it looked fantastic. Color, feel, clips, lace, travel case all looked 10/10, as well. Everything and more I would expect. I was a little skeptical they advertise you need their special spray to keep the hair smooth, but I bought it, anyway. I totally gave them a fair chance. I did everything you’re supposed to do–let it air dry, brush it gently twice a day, kept it braided when active, use their spray, etc., but it only got worse. By the third wash, the hair went to crap. For something as simple as daily wear, it’s done nothing but clump up, tangle, and rat. The minute I comb them out, they’re tangled again. Not only that, but the hair falls out like crazy with every brush and wash. They no longer blend in with my hair, but are fuzzy, dry, and push out my hair, also making it tangle. This is a sign of it NOT being good quality hair and the cuticles not going the same direction. I don’t even think it’s Remy hair. SO incredibly frustrating! No way to get a refund or return. They also have biased reviews with their “give us a positive review within 10 days for a money-back rebate!” Even though the packaging looks great, the actual product is garbage. I will never buy from this company, again, or ever recommend it.

Don’t Buy From Zala! These are by far the worst quality I’ve ever seen!! I bought two 24” packs of ash platinum blonde and used one pack at a time. They felt so thick and soft originally, but the first time I washed them (with their products) they felt like straw and were in dreadlocks! I used their oil spray to brush them out, which helped some, but Im convinced they treated them somehow right before they sent them out. By 2 weeks they were breaking off so badly, I’d have to brush them outside or vacuum! And the broken off ends looked and felt like straw! Handfuls broke off every time I brush them, literally. They said I can’t return or get a refund cuz I’d already put them in.. How was I gonna know all this beforehand?! But hey, they sent me more shampoo and conditioner to make me feel better.. whatever. Anyway, I took those out after 4 weeks and they were 18” not 24”, so much had broken off!!

I’ve never experienced anything like this before and I’ve worn tape-ins for years! I figured it had to be just that batch, so I put in the other pack. EXACT SAME THING is happening. 3 weeks later they’re so split and breaking off, it’s pathetic. Somethings not right with these, I do not believe they are 100% Remy hair.

I have very thin very fine hair, which is why I bought the halo extension.
I paid $100 for it plus another $40 for the shampoo, conditioner, and revive me stuff.
They only offer one thickness for the halo extension
And it is EXTREMELY thick
I want something that looks more natural and this looks the furthest thing from natural it is so thick.
When you recieve the halo, it is folded up and a tag through it. So you can’t try it on without taking the tag off.
I returned it and they emailed me saying they could not refund because I removed the tag. How else would I try it to see if it works?
I understand that this is to do with hygiene
I could exchange it for something else but I wanted the halo, not clip in. So I had no need to exchange I just wanted my $100 back
I sent the other revive me stuff back too and there was a $10 restocking fee!!!!

I’ve been wearing extensions for years and never had a problem. A couple of months ago I bought blonde tape ins. After my first hair wash of having them in the hair looked fried and cheap, which has never happened to me before. I reached out to customer service and the best they could do was a $10 credit which later turned into a $20 refund on a $200+ purchase. This month my hair is now black and I bought weave in extensions. After 3 weeks of wear the hair gets tangled so easily, it becomes matted and extremely knotty to the point where I’m embarrassed of how much hair looks. Again on a $300+ purchase they refunded me $40 after tons of emails going back and forth with them basically blaming me for the quality of their hair. I take very very good care of my hair and my extensions because it’s an investment and this hair is not worth it. I would never purchase from them again.

Having extension off and on for the last 9 years, I know good quality hair. I have them in around a month. I washed my hair for the 3rd time the same way iI always do. When getting out and seeing the huge matted rats nest I freaked. I sprayed detangler in my hair and combed it all out in return stripping hair from the extensions, and then a huge piece just fell out. I took and have pictures, and sent them to them and was told their is no warranty, as they had been put in. Well Uh, how are you to know if a product is good or bad till you try, and with weft you have to install to see. This was huge no no in my book as I know alot of extension companies offer a 45 day warranty up to 60 days, as weft can cone undone, etc… I will never buy or refer anyone to ZALA ever!!! I will stay with My Airy hair, way better quality, with warranty, and have used them for 4 years never has my hair from them tangled in a rats nest, ever, even swimming…. This past March I purchased 1 weft pack to replace my year old tape- in extensions ( I went to sew in) and a 5 piece set of clips to freshen my hair until my appointment with my hairdresser ( who suggested Zala because she had purchased wefts from them). The clip extensions got so dry, tangled and unmanageable after 1 wash, I was floored. I have been using extensions for over 10 years – ( most of that time using clip ins I got myself from Sally Beauty {Euronext which were GREAT quality}) and NEVER experienced such a thing. They shed profusely and were like doll hair- from one wash. Due to this, I decided NOT to get my second pack of wefts from them and got it from Glam Seemless. I hoped that mixing the two, and the fact that the Zala were wefts, that I would be okay. I couldn’t afford to get yet another weft pack from a different company, so I hoped that mixing the good with potential bad would be okay. I’m not rich by any means, and I NEED my extensions to last close to a year. Due to this I take very good care of them, and am obviously experienced with human hair extensions. Did not work. After 2-3 weeks the hair got dry, tangled and unmanageable. It’s literally the absolute WORST hair I’ve ever purchased. Zala won’t even answer my emails. Not that I expected them to. These extensions are so terrible that not even the Glam Seemless I mixed can take away the overall dryness and terrible feel of my hair. You can tell I’m wearing extensions because of them. Now I actually DO need to replace the Zala sew in’s and it hasn’t even been a month. Never been so disappointed and disgusted. We need to get this company shut down. For normal humans who don’t have a lot of $, it’s horrible that they do this to people. After checking lots of other reviews I have seen SO MANY people who have suffered the same issues. We need to band together. This cannot happen to anyone else. The ONLY thing that “helped” was to use a ton of gloss, and even THAT couldn’t completely hide the terrible quality of this hair and I spent almost $100 on different glosses. Ive wasted over $850 having to get new hair to replace the Zala hair, try to FIX the Zala hair while still tied in my head and various other add ins. Don’t hesitate to email me if you’ve had the same issues. Would love to commiserate.

I really wanted to like Zala for its price. But I don’t think I’ll purchase it again. I agree about the packaging. It’s nice. I like the box. But for the quality of the hair, I really wish they had focused on that instead. My hair knotted/tangled like crazy when I wash it. At first I thought it was just the NYC water, because I got it when I first moved out here. But I’ve tried other brands after and it didn’t knot/tangle like Zala did. So, that’s a major con imo. That sums it all. Poor quality at a cheap price.

I really wanted to like Zala for its price. But I don’t think I’ll purchase it again. I agree about the packaging. It’s nice. I like the box. But for the quality of the hair, I really wish they had focused on that instead. My hair k

I’ve ordered two pairs of Zala hair extensions throughout the past two years.
– Clip-ins, 16″ & 20″ in champagne blonde.
– The color is great, I tone them to Wella T18 & darken the roots/clips to blend into my balayage.
– When you open them, they’re ridiculously soft, however unnatural & you can tell they’re highly chemically processed. The softness is almost silky, a bit strange compared to UNice, Bellami, Sunny, Goo Goo, which has real hair texture.
– With adequate care & product, the hair tangles EASILY & begins shedding after normal wear after one month. The hair sheds & tangles like synthetic hair.
– The thread for the clips begin to unravel after a month’s wear, you’ll need to thread them back on. With the tangles & shedding, they began frizzing & look unhealthy (again, with product). I threw out the first pair after about six months.
– For the second, I really loved the color of the first & thought maybe they’d improve the hair after a year. No, my experience is exactly the same.
– After owning MANY different type of hair extensions, Zala most likely uses a blend of synthetic & real hair. It reacts simiarily like my synthetic clippings & wigs. Especially the tangle & shedding, so bad.
– Overallx I really like the hair colors, quick shipping, & compostable packaging. I think they need to invest more in R&D into their hair extensions or decrease the price point to reflect the quality.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!! I have worn hair extensions for over 20 years. I’ve tried it all, human & synthetic from fusion, to sew in to tape in & beyond. I starting using zala invisi-tape hair extensions in March 2021 & placed an additional 4-5 orders within 2021. I was super impressed with the quality of the hair. Silky smooth & shiny. Fast forward to my February 2022 order. I knew within a week something had changed. The hair quickly became dull, knotting & shedding. I reached out to customer service, through chat because you can’t actually speak with anyone on the phone. I sent them photos of my hair & they told me “nothing had changed & I must not be taking care of them correctly.” Unbelievable considering the amount of time I’ve worn extensions & I had never had this issue before with zala. Nothing changed with my products or styling tools. After several back & forth messages, they finally sent me their hydrating mask to supposedly “revive” the hair. I knew the hair wasn’t going to come back, but I entertained the mask, nothing happened of course. I reached out again & they absolutely were not accepting any accountability whatsoever. I had a back-up pack of their invisi-tapes, so I had my hairdresser change them out thinking maybe I got a bad batch of hair. NOPE, same thing happened. Zala FINALLY agreed to give me a store credit so I purchased another pack of hair (glutton for punishment, I know) I’ve had this current hair for 4 days. I haven’t even shampooed it yet & it’s already getting frizzy & unmanageable. I am certain the hair manufacturer changed & the quality of the product is no longer what it was. BUYER BEWARE

So I’ve been buying the Zala tape hair extensions for over a year now.. I’m not sure why honestly. When I first bought them they were such good quality and they lasted like a month and half. Then I dunno what happened but it’s just gotten worse and worse. After one wash now I want to take them out of my hair. They are super frizzy and even tho the color is a great match it is so easy to see the difference because the texture is so bad. They tangle so easily now. I’ve tried their shampoo and conditioner.. I’ve tried leave in spray, I bought their partners hair masks. I’ve tried different colors.. nothing has helped. I don’t know what they changed but it’s awful.

I’ve had to exchange my extensions (because of the color but it was my fault) and they make you pay for the shipping and claim their return postage doesn’t work all of sudden and it took about month for the exchange.

I won’t buy them again. I’ve gave them a million chances.

I order zala hair for the first time from the UK. It take a week for it to arrive. Quality of the hair was good but the shade was wrong. So I had to return paying £23 , which I know about. But then The company deduct over £50, including shipping and restocking fee. Hidden shipping charges and hidden duty fees not making any sense to buy this product if your hair colour do not match.

I’ve been using hair extensions for about 10 years. First the bead ones then they bought out the tape ones. So much better 🙂 I’ve used the same brand for many years then my hair dresser told me about Zala hair extensions. I thought I’d try them as they were cheaper than my normal brand. Bad mistake! Bad, bad mistake. They frizzed and knotted badly. So much hair was lost just while brushing my hair. I went back to my hair dresser 3 weeks later, showed her and all Zala offered was a conditioner. Needless to say, it didn’t work… total waste of money as after 5 weeks there was so much breakage and hair loss I had to pay for a new set to be put in. My normal brand. Stick with what I know. After paying 100’s of $$ for Zala extensions, they didn’t even last a few weeks. I guess you learn by mistakes. Never again and I would warn anyone, not to waste your money on these.

I don’t know about the quality of customer service (which I hear is awful) but the quality of the hair is TOTAL CRAP!!! Do not invest your money. LITERALLY after a week of wearing my weft, it started to get super knotty and 2 week after my hair was an actual rats nest. It was SO HORRIBLE. No amount of serum, conditioner or products were able to help! Seriously the absolute worst quality that I have everrrr seem in my life! SO DISAPPOINTED.

I’m honestly very disappointed I’ve purchased over $1000 with this company with their tape ins and clip ins! I recently ordered $350 worth of titans 24 inch and they literally lasted before weeks before they begin to break shed and just look dead. I’m so disappointed and I will not be purchasing from this company no longer. I decided to order from Bellami so hopefully it’s better quality ! So tired of wasting money on poor quality ! I never gave up hope with zala until now ! This last order was just sad.

Do not buy these extensions. I’ve been wearing tape ins for years and these might be the worst quality product I’ve ever bought. I usually go with babe extensions, but wanted to get 22in extensions which aren’t offered by babe. I bought an 80 pack of 22in tape ins from zala and loved them at first. After the first wash my extensions became very frizzy and extremely tangled (extensions generally do get dry and tangled, but this was extreme) I had to brush my hair out every 5 minutes and apply oil every couple of hours. They ended up looking dead after about two weeks. After a month the fallout from these extensions was saddening. I usually have about 40 tape ins installed in my hair at a time but I had to have about 55 pieces installed over time because the extensions became thin and I kept having to cut them. After only two resets, the extensions were about 14 inches long. Zala is a bit cheaper, but not by a lot. I expected more from these extensions for the price I paid and this was beyond disappointing. After all of this, you can only live chat with their customer service line and I was ghosted when asking for replacement extensions or some of my money back. I will not be buying these again and will not be recommending them to clients.

I wouldn’t give this company any stars, but I have to in order to post this review. I went against my better judgement and gave this company a chance; BOY do I regret that! The first couple of days the extensions were great and sooo silky. But after you style your hair a few times, the extensions start to lose that silkiness. I have so many issues- the extensions are constantly knotted; it doesn’t matter how much hair oil you use, and you are constantly brushing your hair. The amount of hair that falls out is crazy!!! I am so displeased with this company and their product. I also find it extremely odd that they only contact their customers through email… super shady. They are also nearly impossible to accept a return. All in all, I would give this company a 1/10.

Definitely order from Bellami if you’re wanting any type of extension/halo/clip-in.

These are the worse extensions ever. They should not be allowed to be on the market. Tried to hit 1 star for customer service and it automatically put 2 stars. The tapes were put on the wrong side of the hair and my first attempted wash all my extensions came out. It was a nightmare. They have broken off my natural hair and are so dry and brittle. The knotting and matting are worse then a 1 year Olds barbie dolls head that has be pit in a mud puddle everyday for a year. These extensions are crap. I’m so embarrassed to keep them in until my REAL remy hair arrives 😫. Save yourself and DO NOT PURCHASE

I am a hairdresser and from 2019 – 2022 I bought Zala hair extensions for about 7000 euros.

In the beginning, the quality of the hair was excellent, but then they started cheating and started adding synthetic fibers to the natural hair.

Clients’ hair began to knot and tear. They became irritated, angry and frustrated.

Unfortunately, they lost many loyal customers due to greed.

Zala Hair Extensions have gone down hill fast. I have purchased tape in hair extensions from Zala for years and recently 2 orders have been defective and the tape is not sticky. I tried to get my money back but they have been unresponsive and basically they want me to pay to ship this defective product back to them. Unbelievable that a company insists their customers to spend more money for defective products! I will not purchase from them again
