Synopsis
An exciting new super hero with powers from the animal kingdom.
Originally from Africa, Mari McCabe grew up an orphan after her parents were killed by local greed, corruption and wanton violence. But Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her. Inheriting her family's Anansi Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals - anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from threats like those that claimed her family.

Set in the Arrowverse, this animated webisode-turned-movie tells the story of a new kind of hero, who faces old ghosts fromt her past, as well as teaming up with two well known superheros (Flash & Green Arrow).
It was very well done; animation, storyline & voice cast. I look forward to the live-action TV series.

This is the first two seasons of Vixen (2015–2016) put together with added footage in between. Alright young female oriented superhero cartoon, but it lacks charm in it's serious attempt to get the Vixen over. Plus there is very little separating her from any of her male colleagues. So just another hero not making much of a mark.

One of the best things about these animated DC films is they allow for spotlight to be put on lesser known characters that otherwise probably wouldn’t see very many film adaptations, and Vixen is one of them. I don’t think we would ever get a stand-alone Vixen movie released in theaters, and given the current state of the DCEU I don’t know that this is a character we would ever even get to see in live action, but with this movie it’s able to explore who this character is, her backstory, and show her in action fighting crime which is cool because this is a character and mythology many audiences might not be all too familiar with. I do think…

So this short animated feature is titled Vixen: The Movie, which is quite the grand title, almost alluding to Richard Donner’s classic superhero feature, Superman: The Movie. However, being an animated feature that by all accounts looks and appears to have been intended as a Saturday morning cartoon, Vixen: The Movielooks like it was reconfigured into a feature film mid stride through its production. The end result is a mixed bag on a narrative level, with the potential shows original episodic seams clearly showing as the series went from one narrative arc to another. That’s not to say that there aren’t genuine pleasures to be had with this animated iteration of the adventures of Mari McCabe / Vixen, one of…

Vixen: The Movie is a combination of the first two seasons of the CW Seed animated series along with fifteen minutes of all-new, never-before-seen content focusing on Mari McCabe beginning to learn the powers of her family's Tantu Totem that she inherited, learn about her past and how her parents died and also becoming the superhero known as Vixen, protecting people from the threats that destroyed her family. Now I never got to watch the animated series through CW Seed so thankfully the DC team have decided to bring this out for digital release and in a few weeks DVD/Blu-Ray for DC Collectors and those just curious as to how this Vixen animated feature fares amongst the releases we've been…

CW FANS ONLY
Originally this was two seasons of a mini-series that they stitched together into one movie. Because of this, the plot feels extremely uneven, with tons of pacing problems. That said, the animation is superb as you'd expect from WB Animation. The characters involved are very likable, and if you're a fan of the CW superhero universe, this is a treat. But overall, it suffers due to it's Frankenstein construction.

Review by AlitaMcFly ★★
Vixen is an interesting DC character but this film does not do her justice at all. It is barely a film, in fact. "Vixen: The Movie" is a feature-length compilation of Seasons 1 and 2 of the short animation series. Vixen spars and teams up with members of the ArrowVerse including The Flash, Green Arrow, and some of their "crew in chairs". Vixen voice actress Megalyn Echikunwoke does a decent job and was supposed to play the character in live-action, as well. The live-action adaptation with Echikunwoke did not happen. Considering this is a compilation, it does feel disjointed. It is not quite as disjointed as expected but there is a clear odd break between Seasons 1 and 2. Season…

Well this was a cobble up project of two seasons worth of webisodes into a film that has pacing issues that can’t be ignored.

Some corniness, but I can't help but think this is sort of what I want out of the DC Animated movies, just superhero stories that don't involve Batman or Superman. Sure it's an Arrowverse tie-in, but at least it's centered on Vixen. The plot is a bit recycled in places, but I do like the character Vixen quite a bit, especially since she was a prominent character in JLU so it was nice to see a return.
