- Tammy Slaton tells her family that she’s currently dating a woman after keeping it a secret
- Her older sister Amanda is taken aback that Tammy assumed they would not be accepting of her new relationship
- Tammy’s sisters assure her that they will be okay with anyone she’s dating as long as they make her happy and treat her right
Tammy Slaton is finally telling her family about her new relationship.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive clip from the upcoming episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters, the 38-year-old revealed to her older sisters Misty and Amanda that she is currently dating a woman named Andrea — her first relationship since the death of her husband.
“I know y'all don't prefer people that are, you know, gay,” Tammy begins before Misty quickly replies, “It don't matter to me.”
Tammy clarifies that she was coming off the wrong way but she meant that her family only “tolerates” people who are gay. Amanda immediately feels offended by her sister’s comment.
“I'm really not sure why Tammy feels like we would have a problem with her dating a female. I have a son that's gay. I don't care as long as she treats you right,” Amanda says in a confessional. “So for her to pop off and say, ‘Well I know y'all probably don't agree with me dating a woman,’ I mean I was completely taken aback by it, to be honest. It really surprised me.”

The sisters both assured Tammy that they don’t care who she’s in a relationship with as long as she’s happy, she’s treated well and doesn’t settle for anything less than what she wants.
“That’s your sexuality, that does not define who you are as a person,” Amanda says.
In the clip, Misty and Amanda then both tell Tammy that they were actually surprised when she married a man, and they always thought she would end up with a woman.
“If she makes you happy….that's all we want for each other is just to be happy. That’s all,” Amanda says. “But I don't want none of us to stop looking for it. Don't just settle. Don't stop until you find exactly what you're looking for.”

Tammy was previously keeping her relationship a secret from her family, sneaking out and going on dates with Andrea for the past couple months.
“I think I want to approach this relationship different than I have in the past, so I haven't told my family because my family’s gonna have something to say about it,” she explained in another episode.
“You know, I think my family probably has more opinions than the world has assholes because they be farting so much,” she said with a laugh.
This is Tammy’s first relationship since the death of her husband Caleb Willingham, who she met at Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in Gibsonburg, Ohio, while she was there working on her weight loss journey. The two fell in love and quickly married in November 2022. But seven months later, Willingham died at the age of 40 of unknown causes.
Following Willingham’s death, Tammy came out as pansexual and later decided she simply doesn’t want to be with any more men after him.
The next episode of 1000-Lb. Sisters airs Tuesday, April 29 at 9pm ET/PT on TLC.
