At least for now I'm trying to post something every day on LinkedIn.So here's a quick travel tip I see people get wrong:For airline status schemes - please only actively use one account for each airline alliance! There are three major airline alliances - OneWorld, Star Alliance and Skyteam. In most cases a flight on one airline in the alliance can be credited to any scheme in the alliance (though always check it does!)So if you fly American Airlines and you are an active member of the British Airways scheme, put your BA executive club number on the AA flight booking, not the AAdvantage scheme number. Almost all these schemes work on your accruing a certain number of points in a year based on flights and that will give you status. Don't disperse these points amongst multiple schemes! Also note that which scheme you choose doesn't have to be either the first you join or the nearest airline to where you live. These schemes all have different rules, so with your flying patterns it may make sense to register under a foreign airline's scheme rather than your local airline.

[ DIRECT BOOKINGS, PLEASE ]As of 01 May, American Airlines will no longer award miles or status points on bookings through travel agencies not meeting a certain share of NDC bookings, unless the member's employer has a corporate agreement with the airline.Besides the fact that the timing might be a bit unfortunate (the program celebrates its 43th birthday on that date!), there is some logic in (finally) leveraging the power of these programs to drive direct bookings. Even if it happens for other reasons, almost the entire hospitality industry applies the same approach after all.Is this bold too move and/or contradictory to the industry efforts to try to engage less engaged customers with a loyalty program? Or will others follow suit quickly? And what will be the reply by the big OTAs?The next months will be interesting! 🙂 #globalflight

Swiss Airline become a low-cost?It is incredible to see a airline company like SWISS to charge for changing your seat at check in time. Even worth, they give you the worth seat on plain without taking in count the preferences you have on your miles&more card. Is SWISS becoming a low cost airline?

Middle seats on planes have a terrible rep, even more so in a post-pandemic world in which passengers are still wary of close interactions. Aviation industry expert Alexandra Vukolova is usually willing to pay more to avoid a middle seat. Not on short-haul trips though, she writes. During a recent flight in a middle seat, she discovered its hidden benefit:"99% of the time I pay for seats. I don’t mind paying a reasonable ancillary fee for assuring my own comfort. Win win. "But that 1% when the airline wants me to pay €40 for an hour flight (during the check-in) just not to sit in the middle I refuse to support that ancillary strategy ... The unwritten rule goes that a passenger sitting in the middle can have both armrests."Are you OK with paying seat selection fees when flying? How about other additional charges for extra comfort? Share your thoughts in the comments.

There are a few ways to try and get upgraded on an airline:1. Pay for it 💰2. Build up your loyalty points✈️3. Try to convince the airline employees 😉We find faking a proposal or honeymoon works too but very difficult to achieve when flying alone.

Airline loyalty programs offer valuable perks for frequent flyers, including free flights, upgrades, and priority boarding. The best program depends on individual travel patterns, goals, and spending habits. Key factors to consider are ease of earning and redeeming miles, elite status benefits, and airline partnerships.Strategies to maximize rewards include using co-branded credit cards, taking advantage of promotions, and optimizing redemptions for premium cabin travel on long-haul flights.https://lnkd.in/dj2YHUen
