Alexandrite 755nm

Alexandrite is ideal for most skin tones and hair types, notably lighter skin and fine hair, since its wavelength maximises the melanin chromophore’s ability to absorb high energy levels. Because of its increased superficial penetration targeting the Bulge of the hair follicle, the 755nm wavelength is optimal for removing hair that is superficially embedded.

Diode 808nm

This is a widely used wavelength because its combination of high average power with deep penetration, large spot size, and fast repetition rate makes for quick, effective treatments. The 808nm wavelength is well-suited for darker skin tones, including tanned skin, because of its low absorption rate for melanin. It is most effective on the arms, legs, and face due to its moderate tissue depth, allowing it to target the Bulge and Bulb of the hair follicle.

Near-Infrared 940nm

At a wavelength of 940nm, the lower, less intense peak absorption of the chromophore haemoglobin is exploited. Haemoglobin is present in the papilla, a large bulb at the base of the hair follicle that contains the blood supply and essential nutrients for hair formation. It enables a further heat reaction in that deep channel, preventing further development and resulting in the necrosis and loss of hair. This wavelength’s improved absorption and moderate penetration depth make it ideal for treating all skin and hair types, particularly darker skin.

YAG 1064nm

Due to its lower melanin absorption, the 1064 YAG wavelength is excellent for darker skin types. This wavelength also delivers the deepest hair follicle penetration, targeting the Bulb and Papilla while treating deeply ingrained coarse hair such as the scalp, bikini area, and underarms. It raises the thermal profile of the whole treatment, resulting in more effective hair removal and enhanced outcomes since it avoids the skin’s natural pigmentation.
